The Beauty of Nature

Three hundred steps take me from my doorstep to the top of the path leading to the beach. We have one mile of dedicated beach, one of the few natural areas left. Overhead brown pelicans fly in formation, seagulls are ever present and sandpipers frolic in the sand. It is not unusual to have a sea turtle nest during the nesting season. Thank goodness their nests are protected and watched by a Turtle Watch Organization. Endangered Least Terns nest on our beach each year and are protected. Note the sea oats growing on the pathway, they are propagated by beach mice and their roots secure and build sanddunes. How fortunate I am to have this wonderful place to walk and contemplate life. The photos were made just before dark.
