Summer Lessons

I question not if thrushes sing,
If roses load the air;

Beyond my heart I need not reach
When all is summer there.

~John Vance Cheney

THINGS MY GRANDCHILDREN HAVE LEARNED THIS SUMMER

Skateboarding is awesome, Little League All Stars is very exciting, life is not always fair, summer camp can be more fun without your big brother, that snake in the yard really was almost 4' long and it was poisionous, gymnastics is fun, swimming is summer, their best friend is a baseball star, Grandma can still hit a triple playing ball in the front yard and her heart doesn't stop when she runs the bases.

THINGS I HAVE LEARNED THIS SUMMER

Summer is a state of mind not a season, true love appears when you least expect it, grandchildren are a gift and if one is receptive, life is full of surprises. Good friends who are ill don't get better because you want them to and the loss of a pet leaves a hole in the heart of the owner. Life happens whether you participate or not. I, for one, strive to live the rest of my life as if it is summer everyday.

    I love the way you worded what both the grandchildren and grandmother learned. It helps to show how our priorities change as we mature.It is no wonder that Gina copes with her little ones so well, she had a very smart teacher to learn parenting from. Sunshine
