Reflections on Independence Day

"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."
-Melody Beattie -

For those of you who know me this day has a special significance. It is a celebration of life. I am proud to be an American and pray daily for those who are defending my life and the lives of my family.

At the beginning of 2007, I decided to keep a record of something positive for every day of the year (a celebration for each day). When I started most days were easy but some days I had to think really hard to find my positive. I have now progressed to the point that I have to pick and choose from all of the positives I experience each day. I find myself so busy living that I have to make time to document my activities.

I am thankful that I now view life with objectivity and happiness. I look forward to each sunrise and laugh with others and at myself daily. I celebrate with friends and cherish each moment. America the Beautiful now has a different significance for me. I wish you all a Happy 4th of July and the freedom to allow yourself to enjoy each day to the fullest.
