Recently I was asked to teach a class to members of the local Artist Association. This was a good challenge for me as the majority of the members are painters not quilters. After a bit of research I decided to share a technique I had seen in one of my quilt magazines. In the class we painted fusible webb and ironed it to fabric. I introduced them to angelina fibers, tensel and other embellishments. We experimented with several different fabrics and had a productive and fun workshop.
This project was made using the same technique. After painting the fusible webb, I ironed it to fabric, embellished and quilted it. The edges were bound with sheer ribbon. My head is spinning with new project ideas using this technique.

This is just beautiful. I love the ribbon binding.
ReplyDeleteGreat Project Riviera!! But, How do you iron it to the fabric without gumming up thing? fusiable web is for bonding stuff right? what happens when you paint it does it still stick to the fabric?
ReplyDeleteI love the colours on this quilt, you did an amazing job. Sure wish I could have been in your class
