Contemplating the New Year

“Celebrate the happiness that friends are always giving, make everyday a holiday and celebrate just living!” -- Amanda Bradley

This morning as I sat out on my deck I could hear the roar of the Gulf of Mexico as the waves crashed on the shore, the whisper of the wind in the palm trees and the sounds of the birds. The breeze was a little chilly with the promise of a fabulous day. I reflected on 2006, thinking of the good times and the not so good times. The changes that have occurred and the things I have yet to experience.

My life is full, I have reconnected with friends from long ago, made new friends in places I have not been before, had more holiday parties and activities to attend than one could imagine and am looking forward to 2007 with great anticipation. January and February are already jam packed with things to do, April is on the agenda as well. Perhaps I should just rest in March! Who ever thought I would need to keep a calendar of social activities and invitations!

My roadmap for 2007 is pretty simple. Spend as much time with my children, grandchildren and other family members as possible, a bit of travel, more walks with Miss Annie Airedale, being content with what I have instead of what I want and to celebrate something every day. I will keep myself on track by making a list of the celebrations. Perhaps some of these events will be incorporated into a piece or two of art in the future.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

That is an amazing sight of the Gulf Of Mexico. I think I would spend a lot of time sitting and looking at the waves, there is something so peaceful in the sights and sounds of the surf.

  2. I really like the idea of celebrating something everyday. You are surrounded by family and friends. That alone is reason to celebrate.
